Please keep its age in mind while reading.<\/div><p>As part of my consulting work over at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cerado.com\">Cerado<\/a>, I&#8217;ve been helping the Professional Aviation Maintenance Association (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.pama.org\">PAMA<\/a>) market their new <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pama.org\/content.asp?contentid=349\">certification program<\/a> through community-building tools on the Internet.  This has involved a <a href=\"http:\/\/pamablog.typepad.com\/\">whole<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pama.org\/content.asp?contentid=378\">lot<\/a> of <a href=\"http:\/\/haystack.cerado.com\/member\/744\">stuff<\/a>, and my favorite piece just launched yesterday:  <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pamaglobalchallenge.com\" style=\"font-weight: bold\">The PAMA Global Challenge<\/a><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The PAMA Global Challenge is an online quiz that uses questions similar to the ones on the certification exam (which means they&#8217;re <span style=\"font-style: italic\">hard<\/span>).  For each question you get right, you keep your 747 in working repair so it can fly to the next city on its trip around the world.  For non-mechanics (like me), it&#8217;s not a question of &#8220;Can I make it all the way home?&#8221; so much as &#8220;<strong>Where will I get stranded?<\/strong>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pamaglobalchallenge.com\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pamaglobalchallenge.com\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sarahdopp.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/03\/map5.jpg\" alt=\"map5.jpg\" border=\"0\" width=\"400\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This project was extra-fun to work on because:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I got to collaborate with Jordan Eisenberg on the PHP code.<\/li>\n<li>The maps were built to emulate the style used in <span style=\"font-style: italic\">Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>We were creating something fun for a serious industry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Christopher Carfi has a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.socialcustomer.com\/2008\/02\/i-made-it-to-du.html\">nice writeup<\/a> of the project if you want to learn more.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Here&#8217;s what really gets me, though: <\/span> Despite the fact that I <span style=\"font-style: italic\">created the quiz <\/span>and <span style=\"font-style: italic\">inserted the test questions<\/span>, I <span style=\"font-style: italic\">still <\/span>seem to only be able to make it to Tokyo.  Seriously, now, I think I should be able to do better than that.<\/p>\n<p>Do me a favor and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pamaglobalchallenge.com\">give the challenge a run-through<\/a>.
