Please keep its age in mind while reading.<\/div><p>I&#8217;ve been recently reminded that if you don&#8217;t tell the Universe (or Blogosphere, if you will) what you need, it doesn&#8217;t know what to give you.  So here&#8217;s what&#8217;s missing in my life.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m looking for&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A converter<\/strong> that transfers content smoothly back and forth between:\n<ul>\n<li>WEB: DokuWiki syntax, XHTML<em>, <\/em>copy-the-text-from-my-browser-page<\/li>\n<li>TRADITIONAL: Word Doc format w\/styles (ideal) <em>or<\/em> RTF<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>G<\/strong><strong>raphic designers<\/strong> and <strong>web programmers<\/strong> who\n<ul>\n<li>work quickly and accurately.<\/li>\n<li>learn new skills efficiently on their own.<\/li>\n<li>are available for immediate contract work (projects last anywhere from 2 weeks to 4 months).<\/li>\n<li>can work on-site in the SF East Bay (BART-accessible offices).<\/li>\n<li>have experience with corporate websites, backed up by references and portfolio pieces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(You can consider this an unofficial job posting.  Please email me for more info <em>only<\/em> if you fit this criteria.)<\/li>\n<li><strong>A To-Do List system <\/strong>that allows me to\n<ul>\n<li>log AND categorize tasks via SMS text-messaging<\/li>\n<li>view and use the lists easily in a mobile web browser (or a Palm OS application, which would actually resolve the first need, too).<\/li>\n<li>view and use the lists on my Mac in an application <em>outside<\/em> of a web browser (kinda like <a href=\"http:\/\/iconfactory.com\/software\/twitterrific\">Twitterific<\/a> for Twitter.\u00c2\u00a0 <em>Does anyone make something like this for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rememberthemilk.com\/\">Remember the Milk<\/a>?).<\/em><\/li>\n<li>categorize, prioritize, and set deadlines for tasks (the ability to put one task in multiple categories would also help).<\/li>\n<li>view finished tasks an archived area, away from the unfinished tasks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>A Treo (Palm OS) application for blogging<\/strong>, specifically to\n<ul>\n<li>WordPress (with category control)<\/li>\n<li>Livejournal (with custom filter control)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>A pair of shoes<\/strong> that\n<ul>\n<li>fits a left foot, high arch, size 10, wide toes, narrow ankle<\/li>\n<li>fits a right foot, low arch, size 10 1\/2, wide toes, narrow ankle<\/li>\n<li>wears comfortably for lots of walking<\/li>\n<li>looks good in the office with brown or black pants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>(I&#8217;m wearing hiking sandals to client meetings, people &#8212; this is becoming ridiculous!)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Renter&#8217;s Insurance<\/strong> that\n<ul>\n<li>I can sign up for easily over the internet<\/li>\n<li>doesn&#8217;t require that I already have an account with the company (I don&#8217;t have car insurance or AAA &#8212; that seems to rule out a lot of the easy options).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>An investment account service<\/strong> that\n<ul>\n<li>I can manage easily over the Internet.<\/li>\n<li>doesn&#8217;t treat me like I know everything about Wall Street.<\/li>\n<li>doesn&#8217;t treat me like I&#8217;m an idiot.<\/li>\n<li>has lots of user-focused interface options that make my life easier.<\/li>\n<li>basically functions on Web 2.0 principles.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>You now know all of my weaknesses.  If we were in battle, you would easily win.  But since we&#8217;re friends, how about you just throw me a bone?<\/p>\n<p>Or maybe it&#8217;s time you put your Wish List out to the Universe\/Blogosphere, too?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Heads up, this content is 19 years old.
